Packing and Moving your houseplants is much like relocating with your small ones- You will have to take extra precautions to keep them protected, as they are sensitive just like your beloved ones, they will also need some time to adjust themselves in your new house environment.

To relocate your favourite plants is always a risky task because sudden changes in light, temperature, etc. can damage the plants easily. We just need some careful planning, then you can safely transport your plants to your new home.

The better care you will give your plants during the moving day, the more easily and quickly they will adjust to your new house environment. We understand while relocating at your new destination, you will have plenty of belongings that need your complete attention to pack and move them safely at your new address.

When you are moving your plants, you know the right way to relocate your plants, we just can’t push plants into a box; because they will need sunlight, water, and air to stay active during the transit. While relocation people always have to deal with several hectic tasks, like packing all items securely, loading them safely, finding good removalists, etc.

To give your plants, flowers, and garden plants a chance to make it to the new home, you’ll have to pack them appropriately for maximum safety and minimum shock.

Some tips for packing plants when moving to a new home.

  • Step 1. Pack your plants in the strong cardboard boxes. Use tape to pack their bottoms on the outside. For more protection place packing paper on the inside.
  • Step 2. Make sure to Poke several holes on the sides and lid of each packing box, so that, your plants get sufficient air.
  • Step 3. If you are thinking of moving some garden shrubs, plants, or even a sapling, then you’ll have to dig it up together with its root system.
For removing the entire ball intact, water the plant, and then dig up a circle around it. Use a shovel and dig a ring around the plant, and then pull it out very carefully by preserving both the thick and thinner roots.
Do not remove the soil and place the entire root ball into a plastic bag and make sure that the root system has enough moist till you reach the moving home. Add water, if necessary. If you’re moving house in cold weather, wrap in an extra layer of bubble
  • Step 4. You have to wrap clay pots in damp packing paper and place one or two sheets of dry packing paper over the moist layer.
  • Step 5. Transfer the protected plants into packing boxes of exact sizes. There should be enough space between the lids and the tallest plant in the box.
  • Step 6. Arrange the plants close to one another and put the crushed paper between them so that any harmful things didn’t happen during the move.
  • Step 7. Close the boxes. The holes you made earlier along the containers should provide enough air for your plants.
  • Step 8. Take a marker pen and write Plants, Fragile, and this side up on two sides of each box.
  • Step 9. Just before you start the car trip, load all your plants carefully.

Your Plants will need a few days to become adjusted to their new home, so you have to check them daily to see how they are faring.

When you are decorating your new home, keep your plants in similar locations to the ones they were in before. This will help your plants to acclimate faster.
