How Our Warehouse Relocation Process Works
Moving a warehouse is not the same as moving a house or an office. There’s more at stake: stock control, supply chain continuity, and the risk of costly downtime if the move isn’t planned properly. Here’s how we manage the process from start to finish.
1. Site assessment and planning Before we move anything, we visit your warehouse (or arrange a virtual inspection) to assess your layout, stock volume, racking systems, and any specialised equipment. This lets us scope the job accurately and build a realistic moving timeline around your business hours, not the other way around.
2. A move plan built around your operations Every warehouse runs differently. Some businesses can pause for a weekend; others need to keep shipping orders the entire time. We work with your operations and admin teams to schedule the move in phases where needed, moving lower-priority stock first and time-sensitive inventory last, so your supply chain keeps moving.
3. Packing, labelling, and stock control We pack and label everything by zone, so stock arrives at the new site already organised by category rather than as an unsorted pile of boxes. This is one of the most overlooked parts of a warehouse move. If your team has to spend two weeks re-sorting inventory after the move, you haven’t actually saved any time.
4. Disassembly and reassembly of racking and shelving Pallet racking, industrial shelving, and storage systems are disassembled, transported, and rebuilt at your new site by our team.
5. Transport with the right fleet We choose from our fleet of 4-tonne, 8-tonne, and 10-tonne trucks based on your stock volume, running multiple vehicles in parallel for larger relocations to keep the job on schedule rather than stretching it across unnecessary extra days.
6. Set-up at the new site We reassemble racking, position stock according to your new floor plan, and leave your warehouse in a state where your team can resume operations immediately, not after another week of internal reorganising.
Why Warehouse Relocations Need Specialist Movers
A removalist can move office furniture or household items without much risk.
Warehouses carry different risks entirely, heavy racking that needs proper disassembly, bulk stock that needs to stay organised through transit, and the real business cost of downtime if a move overruns.
Our team has handled 15+ years of commercial and industrial relocations across Melbourne, which means we plan for the things that cause warehouse moves to go wrong.
Industries We Help Relocate
We’ve managed warehouse and distribution centre moves for businesses in:
- Furniture Retail
- Homewares
- Logistics and 3PL
- Manufacturing
- FMCG distribution.
Whether you’re relocating a single-site warehouse or consolidating multiple distribution centres into one larger facility, we scale our crew and fleet to match the size of the job.
FAQ’s
Any question? Read our FAQs.
Warehouse relocation costs in Melbourne typically range from $1,500 to $15,000+, depending on the size of your warehouse, the volume of stock and equipment, and how far you're moving.
Most warehouse relocations in Melbourne take between 1 and 5 days, depending on the size of the facility and how much planning is done in advance. A small warehouse with straightforward shelving can often be moved over a single weekend. Larger sites usually need a phased move over several days to keep disruption to operations as low as possible.
In most cases, yes. We plan warehouse moves in stages, relocating non-essential stock and equipment first, then handling high-priority items during off-peak hours or after-hours to minimise downtime. For businesses that can't afford to pause operations, we can run the move overnight or across weekends so your team is back to full operating capacity with little to no disruption to order fulfilment or customer deliveries.
Yes. Our team handles full disassembly, transport, and reassembly of pallet racking, industrial shelving, and storage systems as part of the move. We also relabel and re-organise stock locations on request, so your new site is set up and ready to operate from day one, not just unloaded boxes and dismantled frames.
We use a fleet of 4-tonne, 8-tonne, and 10-tonne trucks, selected based on the volume and weight of your warehouse stock and equipment. For larger relocations, we can run multiple trucks or multiple trips to keep the move on schedule. Our team assesses your warehouse during the quoting stage to recommend the right vehicle combination so nothing is left behind and nothing is double-handled unnecessarily.
We carry standard transit cover for goods in transit, but given the value of commercial stock and equipment, we recommend speaking to your business insurance provider about additional cover for high-value items during the move. Our team can talk you through what's included as standard so you can decide if extra cover makes sense for your specific stock.
